Juan Carlos Sánchez Tappan
Juan Carlos Sánchez Tappan is a Mexican architect, writer and educator based in Barcelona, partner of the Barcelona-México Studio of Architecture and Research www.espacio-sofar.org. He holds a professional B.Arch. degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, a post-professional M.Arch. from the AADRL from the Architectural Association in London, and he is doctoral candidate at the UPC Barcelona. He has worked in the architectural offices of Isaac Broid (México D.F.), S.O.M.(London), BCQ (Barcelona) among others. He is permanent faculty seminar professor and thesis tutor at the Metropolis Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urban Culture and permanent faculty studio professor in the faculty of architecture at the Fundación Politécnica de Catalunya-BAC in association with Clemson U.,Texas A&M, Texas San Antonio (UTSA), the U. of Montreal (CAN) and UIA, ITESM (México). He has taught at Elisava Design School,UPF; UPC, ETSAB and UIC, ESARQ (BCN); Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico) and as a visiting lecturer at Tung Hai University, Taipei and London Metropolitan University. His writings and designs have been published in Architectural Design magazine , in Corporate Fields (2005), AAX AADRL documents, Taschen, Art4D and AAFiles among others. He is a member of the group Urban Flashes and he is affiliated to Urban Research Bureau BCN.
