Juan Carlos Sánchez Tappan
Juan Carlos Sánchez Tappan is a Mexican architect based in Barcelona, partner of the Studio of Architecture and Research www.espacio-sofar.org. He is seminar professor and thesis tutor at the Metropolis Program in Architecture and Urban Culture, UPC www.metropolis-bcn.org/, and at the Elisava Design School, UPF. Since 2001, he has been faculty member and studio professor at Fundación Politécnica de Catalunya in association with Clemson U., Texas A&M, Texas San Antonio, the U. of Montreal and UIA, ITESM (México). He also teaches international architecture programs in Barcelona including Carleton and Calgary universities. He studied architecture and urbanism at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, holds a Master’s in Architecture from the Architectural Association’s DRL, and is currently a doctoral candidate at the UPC Escola Tecnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB). He has been a visiting lecturer at Tung Hai University, Taipei, and London Metropolitan Univ. He has worked for BCQ (Barcelona), SOM (London), Isaac Broid (México) and has taught at the Universidad Iberoamericana and at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya ESARQ.
He has had work published in Corporate Fields, AA Print Studio.Young blood, AD Magazine and in Metapolis Dictionary of Advanced Architecture. He is a member of Urban Flashes since 2002 and co-founder of Urban Research Bureau
